Howdy. My name's Robert, but my friends call me Bob. I have a passion for the written word that only continues to grow as I find new ways to express myself through compelling copy and exact editing. I love to take on new challenges and I'm always willing to push my creative and technical limits. Feel free to take a look at my freelance writing or editing samples. I'm always interested in commission work too, so reach out if you like my work and have an interesting proposition.
It's hard for me to sell myself. It isn't that I don't have a healthy amount of ego because I certainly do. But the bigger problem is that I don't really know how to define what makes me so great.
Could be I go after the technical writing skills route. My vocabulary is impressive. My grammar is a work of art. my knowledge of styles and dialects is extraordinary and my skills are a living mosaic of improvement and refinement. But, shouldn't these things be a given?
Perhaps I could tell you about my work experience. How I've worked with several ad agencies crafting copy, doing freelance editing, overhauling SEO programs single-handedly, or improving processes for those who came before and after me? More broadly, I could twist your ear about how I've been working since I was 12 years old, in the retail, warehousing, customer service, cooking, and industrial paint industries as an "unskilled" worker, supervisor and department manager. Again, how much of this is relevant to you and our conversation?
Maybe I could tell you about my education. It's mostly related to niche industry certifications in safety, corrosion inspection and peer support. Naturally, I should mention how I completed the *takes a deep breath* Continuing Education Professional Writing Certification Specializing in Marketing and Ad Relations at the University of Calgary. This sounds very impressive, no? I did it while working full-time too, so there's that. I have a GED as well, so that puts me right on par with the majority of the Canadian labour market...
Do you see what I mean yet? I don't really go after accolades and I'm not really interested in trying to make you perceive me as some all-knowing, omnipotent tour de force. I'm just here to take pride in an honest day's labour, and to learn something new along the way.
If you think that's valuable, hit me up. If not, keep reading my work until you do.
